Description

Ancient India ; Dynasty: Post Gupta ; Region: Malwa ; Madhya Pradesh; Denomination: Fractional;
Denomination: Fractional,
Weight: 1.92 grams,
Metal: Pb Lead,
Attribution: So far un-listed, second known until date .
Obverse: Garuda standing facing, with wings outstretched.
Reverse: Goddess Lakshmi seated in Lalitasana position, facing, holding a long stem Lotus bud, within decorative dotted border.
P.S: It’s an un-listed specimen and far the best & the second known specimen.
The style of Garuda is a perfect match with those of the lead coins of Kumara Gupta I (KG I) which means that it was issued either at the end of KG I’s reign or issued posthumously.
Find spot is Malwa, Madhya Pradesh & was found along with a few other lead coins of KG I. This is one specimen which goes in continuity with KG I & was either issued at the end of his region or issued posthumously after the demise of KG I as per my personal study & research on these coins. It’s again never ever sold in any of the auctions in India or abroad & not yet documented until date. “SAVE HERITAGE SAVE COINS”
