Obv: Nimbate king standing, wearing a tunic, holding a strung bow in one hand and an arrow in the other; a ‘Garuda’ standard to his left, Brahmi legend Vishnu below the arm holding the bow and traces of letters along the margin.
Rev: Goddess Lakshmi seated crosslegged on a lotus, holding lotus in one hand and a noose in the other; Tamgha in the left field and Brahmi legend Sri Chandraditya to right.
Very Fine+, Extremely Rare.
The characteristic patina and debasement of this coin strongly suggests its association with the contents of the Kalighat Hoard. This hoard was found in 1783 and is the first hoard of Indian coins to be reported in numismatic literature.
