Ancient : Kushano-Sassanian king Homzid I
Copper drachm ; Weight : 2.23 Grams
Obverse : Draped bust of the king facing the right, wearing a crown with decorated korymbos and a lion’s head; Pahlavi legend AWHRMYZDY MLKA around.
Reverse : Exalted God emerging from fire altar, holding diadem in his right hand and a long spear in his left hand; Pahlavi legend BWLZAWNDY YZDTY.
Note : Kushano-Sassanian is a term used for the Sassanian Imperial house, ruled over the region of Bactria, the northern part of the Kushan Empire during the 3rd century CE. The name Kushano-Sassanian refers to the coin issued by the ruler of the Sasanian dynasty who calls themselves Kushans. The Kushano Sasanians established their rule in Bactria and the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent during the 3rd and 4th centuries at the expense of the declining Kushans.
