Assam State ; Set of 3 Silver Rupee Coins ; Ahom king Shiva Simha featuring the name of three of his Queens .
Ahom king Shiva Simha was influenced by astrologers to share his reign and coinage with his queens in an effort to avert a supposedly short rule. Following the advice of astrologers who predicted a short reign for Shiva Simha, he made his chief queen, Phuleswari, the “Bor Raja” (chief king) to avert the supposed misfortune Phuleswari. in her zeal for Shaktism and under the nfluence of the Court Priests, attempted to make it the state religion and caused some heart burn amongst the Moamoria whose disaffection over the coming vears is pelieved to have influenced the downfall of the Ahom kingdom.
The names of the queens featured on the silver rupee coins are:
Phulesvari (initially
Pramathesvari (Phulesvari’s name was changed ta Pramathesvari in 1726 AD. and coins were struck with this new name
Ambika (after the death of Pramathesvari Sarvvesvari (after the death of Ambika).
