Note : Govindachandra (c. 1114–1155 CE) was a powerful 12th-century king of the Gahadavala dynasty who ruled over Antarvedi (present-day Uttar Pradesh), including Kannauj and Varanasi. He strengthened his kingdom by defying foreign invasions, expanding its influence, and issuing gold coins depicting a seated goddess. He is known for his,,generosity and support for temple construction.He was known for military prowess, claiming in his inscriptions to have captured the “elephants of nine kingdoms”. He successfully defended his territory against the Gahaznavid ruler Mas’ud III of the Gahaznavid Empire.
