Denomination: Kanthirava – Fanam,
Weight: 0.40 grams,
Diameter: 6mm,
Metal: Au Gold,
Condition: Extremely Fine,
Attributions/Reference: MNI 1027 var; KM C212.
Obverse: Lion-faced Lord Narasimha (reincarnation of Lord Vishnu) with visible & clear depiction of Lion-face (usually weakly struck or partially seen on flan on most of the occasions), seated facing, holding a chakra in each upper hand.
Reverse: Kanarese legend in three line: Kanthirava/Narasa/Raja. Legends on these coins are always degenerated & illegible.
P.S: Most of the Wodeyar “Kanthirava” Fanams have a stylized, unrecognizable lion’s face. However this particular specimen shows a clear lion’s face, in addition to a clear chakra in Lord Narasimha’s right hand. A specimen struck in extremely high relief with clear & sharp strike. “SAVE HERITAGE SAVE COINS”
