Description

Description

Kingdom: Rajput kingdom of Narwar,
Region: Narwar, Madhya Pradesh,
Ruler: Malaya Varma Deva,
Reigned: 1223 – 1233 CE,
Denomination: Jital,
Metal: BI Billon,
Rarity: Scarce, it’s Rare to get with complete name of the ruler on-flan,
Attributions: Tye 56; Deyell 362.
Obverse: Stylized horseman advancing right.
Reverse: Devanagari legend in three lines: Shri Ma Ma/LaYa VaMMa/ DeVa Sa 8X [VS Samvat 128X]
Horizontal ladder pattern above (which is rarely seen on-flan on the Reverse).
P.S: King Malaya Varma was predecessor of Jajapellas.
All coins of this ruler fall under the scarce to rare category. Finding one with a complete & clear date is very hard to collect, even Tye couldn’t find any good dated one or with full legends on flan to list in his lovely catalogue.
This specimen has traces of date VS (12)8X (1223 – 1233 CE).
It’s a lovely specimen in its natural state of preservation with intact toning & find patina.
Only 10 specimens were studied by Sir John Deyell Ji in his research report for this particular rulers specimens. “SAVE HERITAGE SAVE COINS”
